The Time…

When George Washington commissioned our first merchant ships refitted as military ships purchased by the Continental Congress in 1775, they needed to unfurl a distinguishing flag recognized by their own. The flag of choice was the pine tree flag with the motto “Appeal to Heaven”.  The pine tree symbolized liberty and an appeal to heaven… the only hope for our ragtag military. Why? When you have no government to appeal to for redress of your God-given rights your only recourse is to appeal to heaven which was espoused by John Locke, 1690, and powerfully influenced the daring and costly sacrifice that birthed our unique republic. This influential thought birthed freedom independent of any particular nation. We cannot thwart this by succumbing to tyranny.

As the author of the book, "Ziklag, a Den of Safety" I named the believers of God LightKeepers. Since I think of myself as a LightKeeper it is fitting to correlate that with light houses and their significance in aiding storm-tossed navigators to safety. Whether rough seas or smooth sailing, I hope my beckoning beacon shines through darkness, our very real opposition, so others reach God's shore of blessings.
